Basic visa conditions of subclasses 309 and 100:
For the applicant:
- Be outside Australia when applying for the visa (applies to accompanying family members as well)
- Be at least 18 years old
- In a genuine relationship with an eligible Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen
- Have a sponsoring spouse who meets eligibility criteria and is willing to sponsor
- Meet health and character requirements
- No previous visa cancellations/refusals
- Pay your debts to the Australian Government
- Understand and sign the Australian Values Statement
- Be in or outside Australia when the Department grants the visa.
- Maintain a genuine and ongoing relationship with the sponsoring spouse or partner.
